Smoothies Creates Smooth Moves for Aspirant DJ’s

The Smoothies campaign flighted on Capricorn FM over a seven-week period. A contemporary Smooth Moves track was composed and listeners were encouraged to upload the track, flesh out their vocal stylings and send their entries back to the station via a cellphone upload – a highly advanced form of social media in its time.

The contestants were narrowed down to five finalists by listener’s votes and outstanding contestants had the chance to vocalise their entry on air over the Smooth Move track. Listeners voted and won prizes for participating.

A face-off finale was held at Capricorn and broadcast live. The crowd decided on the winner at the gig. Thato Moloto made the cut. The prize was a two-week internship at Capricorn FM, which Thato grabbed with both hands. Today, Thato is a popular morning DJ with the station.
