Makoya Moola – ‘Know Your Money’ was The South African Reserve Bank’s New Banknote Launch Campaign emphasizing the new security features to be found on the notes.
Creatrix conceptualized the campaign with TBWA and produced 5 x 10 minute edutainment series in 11 languages to run concurrently on national and community radio, with a massive above the line, outreach and public relations campaign that included presentations to parliament.
The sitcom inspired program featured a main character who was skeptical as to the security features and a variety of subsidiary characters who learned how to identify the features as the show progressed. Brand ambassadors reinforced the features and a hotline was instituted to feed back to the public.
An original Makoya Moola Song was created for radio play and live events and sitcom dialogue, hotline, brand ambassadors and parliamentary launch. The campaign won a major PR award, the Prisa Prism award, in 2006.
