“My 2010 School Adventure” is a fun, edutaining interactive radio series commissioned by the 2010 Fifa World Cup ™ Local Organising Committee, in partnership with the Department of Education and The Department of Sport and Recreation. The campaign centered around school activities leading up to The 2010 Fifa World Cup™ in South Africa. It was targeted towards all South African learners and constituted part of the on-ground activations in all schools, including soccer tournaments, art and cultural activities and the school curriculum. The feature flighted on 9 x ALS Stations during February and March 2010, synergising the following elements:
Participation and education of learners with the activities of the Department of Education and the Schools Campaign on the ground
The Fifa values of culture, ubuntu and humanity
Programming of the station as Saturday mornings are youth orientated
The feature was broadcast in the form of a soccer and cultural quiz. An exciting jingle introduced the feature in which cultural and soccer information was communicated, based on the variety of nations participating in the tournament. Learners called in to answer a series of multiple choice questions based on the program content. The top two winners in each week went through to a final where exciting soccer related prizes could be won. The response was overwhelming and learners and presenters alike participated with passion and knowledge.
