The Republic of Connection was an industrial theatre campaign developed by Tequila and Creatrix for a Telkom customer-related staff conference. The delegates were led through the territory of the Republic and introduced to 6 ‘provinces,’ each embodying an aspect of the company’s ethos: Simplicity Ingenuity Honesty Enterprising Warmth Passion.
On the final day of the conference, the delegates were split into 6 teams, each team being tasked to create a verse for the anthem. The Telkom Republic of Connection Anthem was composed by Creatrix to synergise the 6 attributes of the company which were explored during the conference.
Each verse in the song allowed space for the words to be uniquely created by 6 different groups, one for each attribute. The lyrics communicated these qualities in rhythm and rap, harmony and melody, song and speech.
Boomwhackers and drums provided by Drum Café, contributed to the intensity of the rhythm. The chorus enabled all groups to participate together in a jubilant affirmation of each value in the Republic.
