Creatrix tendered and won the contract to produce a 13 part TV jazz series for SABC1. This has broadcast since 2001 on SABC3 and Channel Africa and has been seen as far afield as Addis Ababa.
The series showcased three performers or groups each week, highlighting the style and attitudes of what makes South African jazz ‘Bejazzled.
A monster lineup featured such luminaries as Zim Ngqwana, Johnny Fourie, Moses Khumalo, George Lee Larnyo, Estelle Kokot, Bruce Cassidy and Allen Kwela to name but a few.
The Bejazzled house band was led by maestro Khaya Mahlangu and featured Hilton Schilder on keys and Neil Attridge on drums. Lynn Joffe scripted, co-presented and co-produced the entire series.
